Ilha Morro de Sao Paulo

Halli hallo,

sorry you did not hear from us, we were wothout internt connection the
last days.
What happened inbetween: we drove from Itaparica to the south of the
island of Itaparica, to Catú where we met Jaimy, a 58 year old sailor
whom Marcus had met in Las Palmas 3 years ago. One day we drove up the
river to Jaguaribe, had lunch there and went back to Catú to have dinner
on board with Jaimy. He has sailed up and down the coast of Brazil,
Argentina and Chile up to Valparaíso so many times, so he was able to
give us many good hints of where to go and not go. Jaimy is an
interesting, funny person. He is a one hand sailor. Loves to sail alone.
I am sure Marcus will write more about him ;-) We had a great time with
him and his stories.

On friday we headed south to Ilha Morro do Sao Paulo, a beautiful,
touristy place. My neighbours had been there and told me it's beautiful.
Also they gave me the name of a german guy (Horst Drechsler) who has a
Pousada ("Natureza") and the local Yacht club (Iate club), constisting
of about 7 Catamarans and Tornado. We met him, he let Marcus do some
maintenance on the Dinghi motor in his club yesterday and then we went
out with the Tornado (a speed catamaran). That was a lot of fun. 1,5hrs
he went with Marcus and me and then he let Marcus and me go alone with
Sven. We had a great time. We'll come back here on the way south with
our next guest. Horst is a very nice guy and he had wonderful memories
of my neighbours family with the two racing sons who wore him out on the
tornado ;-) Greetings to family Möslein!!!
We went to his restaurant at his Pousada for dinner, it was excellent.
His Pousada is beautiful, has appartments for up to 5 people with their
own Jacuzzi in free air and overlooking the ocean. If anyone is looking
for a relaxed vacation, nice beaches where you can choose from lonely
beach and touristy beach, nice restaurants, this is the place to go!
I'll write more about this beautiful island when I can post pictures.

Now we're heading south a bit more and sail out. There is finally a bit
of wind out here so we want to sail with Sven. In the afternoon we'll
head into the next bay for swimming and staying overnight. Guarapuá.

Tomorrow we have to sail all the way back towards Salvador, stay
overnight in the bac of Itaparica again to arrive in Salvador on
wednesday, where Sven has to leave us at 2pm to head to the airport.

To my OJ and aunt Silvi: can't Skype at the moment, no sufficient internet.

Michaela
