Two days ago we hopped over from Vanua Levu to Taveuni island, the „garden island" of Fiji. It is a real paradise here with nice beaches, great reefs for diving and snorkling and a beautiful country with rainforest and waterfalls. The best about the waterfalls is the cool refreshment they provide. The whole island looks very clean and green, the people live quite well and many (compared to FIji standards) very nice houses, lovely people. We had a taxi driver for the whole day who drove us around on all available „roads". 70% of the road is unpaved, sometimes very rocky and with lots of holes, so you can go only very slowly. We have been to all villages, even the very remote ones. Half of the island is plantation, half is park and rainforest (reserve). Spectacular is the area at Bouma, on the east coast, with its Natural Heritage Park with the Tavoro waterfalls, Lavena coastal walk, Waitabu marine park, Vidawa rainforest hike. It is worth while coming here and spend a week here. Unfortunately we're leaving now. But, I really enjoyed the coooooool water after the 2hr hike to the 3 waterfalls (up- and downhill).
In the following you find some picutres from our tour to and around the island.

On our way to here we saw these „false killer whales" with their babies close to the boat. The first time ever I saw them, so cute!

On the date line. Who says you can't live yesterday in today? This is the line between 180deg West and East. So to the right it's yesterday (theoretically, officially in the 1800s they set the line more east to have the same time all over FIji), to the left is today.
